anomalyco/opencode

anomalyco/opencode is an open-source AI coding agent providing an interactive terminal user interface alongside a dedicated desktop application. The platform structures coding workflows through built-in agents that users can switch between using the Tab key. The default build agent provides full-access capabilities for active development work. The plan agent operates in read-only mode for analysis and code exploration, denying file edits by default and requesting explicit permission before executing bash commands, making it suited for exploring unfamiliar codebases or planning changes. In addition, a built-in general subagent handles complex searches and multi-step tasks internally, and users can invoke it directly by typing "@general" within messages.

Before installing, users must remove versions older than 0.1.x. The command-line interface can be installed via the shell script "curl -fsSL https://opencode.ai/v2/install | bash", which places files in "$HOME/.opencode/bin". Package manager options include "npm i -g @opencode/cli@latest", Homebrew via "brew install anomalyco/tap/opencode-v2" or "brew install opencode", Arch Linux via "sudo pacman -S opencode" or "paru -S opencode-beta", "mise use -g opencode", and Nix using "nix run github:anomalyco/opencode". Beta desktop releases for macOS, Windows, and Linux are available at opencode.ai/download or via "brew install --cask opencode-desktop". The GitHub snapshot shows the repository is not archived and records an MIT license. For another coding agent, compare OpenHands; features and workflows differ.
