obra/superpowers
Superpowers is a software development methodology and agentic skills framework designed for coding agents, constructed from composable skills and foundational agent instructions. When a project begins, the framework directs the coding agent to pause and ask clarifying questions to extract concrete specifications rather than writing unstructured code immediately. The resulting specification is presented in digestible chunks for user review and approval. Once approved, the agent formulates an implementation plan emphasizing true red-and-green test-driven development (TDD), YAGNI, and DRY principles. After confirmation, it launches a subagent-driven development workflow where subagents execute engineering tasks, inspect and review progress, and maintain alignment with the agreed plan. The GitHub snapshot shows the repository is not archived.
The target audience consists of software developers and enterprise teams employing coding agents across software engineering projects. Prerequisites require an environment running a supported agent harness, such as Claude Code, Antigravity, Devin CLI, or Gemini CLI. Installation procedures differ across individual harnesses. For Claude Code, install from the official marketplace using:
/plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official
In Antigravity environments, install the plugin by executing:
agy plugin install https://github.com/obra/superpowers
For Devin CLI users, run the command:
devin plugins install obra/superpowers
On Gemini CLI, install the extension using:
gemini extensions install https://github.com/obra/superpowers
The framework is distributed under the MIT License, with optional commercial enterprise support available from the maintainers. For another agent-skills collection, compare mattpocock/skills; its structure and workflow need not be identical.
